Keith Swanhall is running as a Republican candidate for the Board of Education. Keith is a stay-at-home Dad and he and his wife Rebekah have five children.
Keith would bring to the Board of Ed a fresh look at ways to incorporate teaching for real-world jobs. He feels more focus on the benefit of practical skills will help help teach our kids for the future in the real world.
Trade schools are a great opportunity for many students but our current curriculum doesn’t provide sufficient details on alternatives as compared to classes geared to those seeking a college education. Everyone learns differently and we need to ensure that our schools provide teachers who can work with students who want non-college options and prevent them being lost in the mix of college-bound students.
I feel strongly that we need to find better ways to encourage and facilitate parents being more involved with their children and their education process, both in and out of school.
